Restoration Project - Natsumi

Andrews Boathouses bought Natsumi in 2021.

Restoration began with her deck, hull and sides being stripped back to bare wood and necessary repairs to the timbers made.

Her bilges were cleaned and painted with three coats of grey bilge paint then finished in Oxford blue.

Her running gear and steering were removed, rebuilt and repacked. The original column was retained and fitted with hydraulic steering and finished with a new Bluemels' Brooklands steering wheel.

Her original BMC Vedette 950cc engine was fully rebuilt by Morris experts Tom Roy, with hidden electric ignition in the original casings and a new dynamator. The engine was painted and detailed with hidden wiring to keep the engine bay neat. Natsumi was completely rewired with top quality marine wire and fuse boxes.

Her gearbox was rebuilt with all new bearings and seals. A new exhaust pipe fitted with a CNC machined stainless steel finisher on the stern.

The dashboard was fitted with a custom-made chrome-plated switch panel with the functions laser engraved and custom-made Smiths gauges in Oxford blue with white markings (fuel, rev counter, oil pressure, temperature, voltage and clock).

Natsumi's decking was treated with several coats of Awlwood varnish, wet sanded and machine polished to a mirror finish. A new Robbins sole floor was treated with several coats of mirror-finish varnish and fitted in the cockpit.

The original navigator lights were stripped back and triple chrome plated. A new brass rub rail with chamfered joints for seamless finish, triple chrome plated was fitted. Triple chromed brass screws, individually plated, were used on all chrome fittings.

Bench seating was refitted and upholstered in cream marine leather with Mulliner style box stitching and Oxford blue contrast piping.

A new Oxford blue hood was attached to the original mechanism that has been stripped and triple chrome-plated.
